We encourage our tamariki to be caring, considerate and respectful akonga, responsible for their own learning journey. |
Tēnā koutou katoa,
On behalf of the staff and students at Canvastown School, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our school website. We are a close-knit, vibrant community where students are at the heart of everything we do.
At Canvastown, we pride ourselves on creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child has the opportunity to shine – both academically and in extracurricular activities. Our students are encouraged to grow as individuals, develop strong values, and build the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our students, both in the classroom and beyond, and are grateful for the support of our dedicated staff, parents, caregivers, and whānau. Together, we foster an environment where learning is celebrated, success is achieved, and our community spirit is strong.
I invite you to explore our website and learn more about the wonderful things happening at Canvastown School. If you have any questions or would like to be involved in our school community, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Let’s continue to work together to inspire, support, and celebrate the success of our students.
Ngā mihi nui,
Alistair Dalziel,

Outstanding turnout on Pets' Day and for the Year 7 & 8s car wash. Tomorrow is Tech for the Year 7 & 8s. There will be a full dress rehearsal for those at school for Tuesday's Taiopenga. Please send boys in with black shorts, and black undergarments for the girls and their hair tied up. I have sent a transport list out by e-mail to all families. If there is any changes, please let me know.I also sent out the official strike notice for Thursday by e-mail. Friday is school, as normal.
The Canvastown School Board of Trustees has decided to close the school on Thursday 23rd October, should an official strike notice go out on Monday. While the unions are still in negotiation with the government, it is likely that the school will be closed next Thursday, and that parents and caregivers should seek alternative arrangements for their children that day. I will keep you all informed of any developments between now and Monday.
Spud just wanted me to put out a quick notice to you all because we all want the day to be memorable....for the right reasons! There are a lot of dog entries. Please make sure that your dogs are under control and on leads at all times. Tomorrow will (hopefully!) be warm and dry so please make sure all animals have shade and water. Information on when you're to talk to the judge about your small animal will be up in the gazebo. The running order will be up there too. Horses and ponies will start at 9:30 am, with the other two rings starting at 10 am. There will be a grand parade at 12:30 followed by a presentation of a cup for the juniors and a trophy for the seniors for the students who showed the most effort and dedication to their art. Graham Rodger will present a cup to the winning junior student in memory of Gayle Rodger. Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
